Training Development
Customer Service Tutorial
A comprehensive CD-ROM tutorial for customer service representatives in financial services companies. Includes simulations with audio, drag-and-drop exercises, printable surveys and more. Guidance created the tutorial from a script and audio files provided by the client. We provided interface design, graphics, and programming in Macromedia Flash. This sample includes about 25% of the entire tutorial.
To view the project online requires Internet Explorer with popups enabled, Windows only, and minimum 800 X 600 screen resolution. (The sound files may take a few moments to download, depending on your connection speed.) You can also download the project as a self-extracting EXE (about 3.4 megabytes).
Tools: Flash, PhotoShop, Sound Forge XP.
Plot Station Roadmap WBT
A low-cost web based training module that teaches the overall process of implementing a server-based software system. Designed and developed completely by Guidance. We're especially proud of the drag and drop exercises (Lesson 1, page 10 and Lesson 4, page 16) as well as the simulation that begins on Lesson 4, page 3. Opens in a popup window and requires Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher (Windows only).
Tools: Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver Course Builder, clip art, PaintShop Pro.
Flash Techniques Demo
This demonstration piece describes and shows different techniques for building web-based training for software applications. Opens in a popup Window and requires the Flash plug-in.
Tools: Macromedia Flash MX and PaintShop Pro.
Classroom Training Guide
We developed this training course to teach IT consultants and system administrators how to implement a web-based document managment system. The sample lesson teaches the process of setting up document workflows, and includes diagrams and examples.
Tools: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PaintShop Pro.
Documentation and User Assistance
User Guide
A guide for a web-based publishing tool designed to allow marketing professionals to easily produce web sites. A somewhat tricky assignment, since the guide had to meet the needs of two audiences: programmers who will customize the tool and marketing folks who will use it. We created this project in a little over two weeks, to meet a customer deadline.
Tools: Microsoft Word, Corel Draw, PaintShop Pro.
Software Reference Manual
We wrote this software reference manual for a complex database application used in construction cost estimating. The sample chapter includes concept explanations, window and field descriptions, and step-by-step procedures. Guidance designed and wrote the manual, as well as the accompanying Windows Help project.
Tools: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer, PaintShop Pro.
Web-Based Help
Our experience with online Help goes all the way back to the Microsoft Windows 3.0 Beta Release in 1989. This example is for a help-desk remote-control application that works in both Windows and UNIX environments. Requires Internet Explorer with popup windows enabled.
Tools: RoboHelp, Homesite, PaintShop Pro.
CD Browser
A multimedia front-end to a software installation CD. The browser launches the installation programs and also allows viewing or launching of product documentation and sample files. Guidance planned, designed and developed the browser. Requires Windows.
Tools: DemoShield, Microsoft Word, PaintShop Pro.
Technical Marketing Communication
Customer Success Story for Cisco Systems
Stories are one of the things we do best. This one tells how a small business reaped big rewards using the technology of Cisco Systems and its partners.
Direct Mail and Web Site Copy
We wrote these pieces for a marketing campaign for a network monitoring service. The audience is data center managers and IT executives in large and mid-size companies. The direct mail card invites the reader to visit the web site, which in turn invites them to sign up for a demo CD.
Copywriting for Print Advertisements
Two interesting B2B print ad assignments. The first sample, for an industrial catalog, explains the benefits of a line of boilers for methane gas plants. The second ad, written for the program book for a charity event, introduces a technology marketing firm and touts their community service credentials.
Newsletter Articles
Articles written for a quarterly newsletter produced by one of our clients. The audience is IBM system resellers. More examples can be found in the Archives section of this site.
Software Demo for Sales Presentations
This demo helps sales personnel present the benefits of a web-based application in an offline situation. The demo simulates the operation of an online Medical Document Management system. It includes optional popup Notes to prompt the presenter about key points.
The demo is Windows-only and requires a minimum 1024 X 768 screen resolution. If you have Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, you can view online (the system will download the DemoShield DemoNow plug-in). You can also download the project as a self-extracting EXE.
Tools: DemoShield, PaintShop Pro.
Multimedia Marketing Demo
A low-cost multimedia CD illustrating the features and benefits of a suite of software packages. Guidance developed this demo from a script provided by the client's marketing staff. We created all the graphics and did the multimedia authoring. Only a portion of the complete demo is included in this sample.
Tools: DemoShield, Microsoft Word, PaintShop Pro, digital camera.
Technical White Paper
A white paper explaining how to choose an acoustical echo canceller (AEC) as part of a digital audio system. We worked with the engineer who authored the paper to put it in plain language for a less-technical audience. This is a draft, pre-production copy.
